I’m one of those people who likes to put my characters through the ringer. Cut Kaye’s wings off? Let’s send her climbing over the mountain in fear of her life. Cause, you know, losing a limb isn’t enough. You gotta make the poor girl climb a mountain, chased by a man who wants to rape and murder her, to up the tension. And between those two things she was kicked out of the priestesses – her lifelong dream. And because that wasn’t enough she ended up in a tribe that despises people with wings, and would cut them off and make her a slave if she hadn’t already lost them.
