Back from Vacation and a #WriteMotivation Update

The fire pit we built during vacation.
My new fire pit!

Hello Aledans! I’m switching Science Tuesday with Update Thursday this week since I’ve just returned from vacation and don’t have enough time to go through all those science emails yet. There are almost two week’s worth of them! Between getting ready for vacation and actually being on vacation I feel like I haven’t talked to you guys in forever.

How have you been? Any good news to share? Anything interesting happen while I was gone?

For my part, I did nothing but read, drink, and get sunburnt on vacation (and build a fire pit). No working on Apollo. No critiquing. No waking up before 11am. It was fabulous. I read FORGED BY FATE by Amalia Dillin and finally finished A FEAST FOR CROWS by George RR Martin. I started A DANCE WITH DRAGONS (also Martin), and got a little further on THE OTHER QUEEN by Phillipa Gregory. I planned to read even more, but FORGED was much longer than I was expecting. We also watched the first season of Arrested Development to get ready for the Netflix release of the new season.

Now, however, it’s time to get back to the grind because I’m sadly behind on my #writemotivation goals. I won’t bother posting them, since they’re at the exact same point as the last time I posted. I do plan to finish up that last chapter of Apollo before the month is through, as well as finish Lindsay’s critique. I’ve already made my goals for June, which include transcribing the Apollo edits.

See you guys on Thursday for your weekly dose of Science News!

  1. Welcome back to the real world. 😉 It sounds like you got a lot of reading and sleep in–even though you feel behind, you recharged yourself pretty darn well. Lovely firepit, too.
